Senior Human Rights Advisor

Albert is a national of Tuvalu, and has been a Senior Human Rights Adviser at RRRT since July 2013. Before joining SPC, he spent ten years working for the Government of Tuvalu as a Crown Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers, Peoples Lawyer in the Office of the People’s Lawyer and as a Legal Specialist on Decentralisation, Local Governance and Community Development. Over the years he has developed a passion to seek innovative ways to create an enabling environment to advance human rights as a tool to address development needs and priorities of Pacific peoples. To this end, he is involved with RRRT’s work with Members of Parliament, Law graduates from the University of the South Pacific, and with faith-based communities to promote the application of human rights in the various settings of their work. He also provides technical assistance and support in drafting of Family Protection Legislation. He is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific and holds a Degree of Master of Laws, a Bachelor of Laws, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice and a Professional Diploma in Legislative Drafting.
