Senior Human Rights Adviser

Ashley is the Programme Manager for the Pacific Commonwealth Equality Project which aims to; (1) Strengthen and establish Pacific National Human Rights Institutions; (2) Enhance state capacity to implement and track its human rights obligations and development priorities; and (3) Empower groups who are regularly discriminated against. He has spent 7 years working in the Asia Pacific region, mostly among Pacific Island Countries, where he has been working to build institutions and tools which lead to greater protection and promotion of human rights. He is a great believer in the contextualised approach to human rights to demonstrate how rights can be relevant and to foster national ownership. He originally comes from the UK and holds a degree in Law and a Masters’ in Human Rights Law.
