Civil Society Training

The Pacific Regional Rights Resource Team provides training for civil society organisations and actors in a variety of ways.

Civil society representatives are included in many of RRRT's programmed activities.

Training requests from civil society organisations in SPC member countries are also supported where funding permits.

RRRT can facilitate general introductory human rights training as well as specialised and detailed training on particular human rights issues and laws.

RRRT has provided substantial training and technical assistance to civil society for more than ten years through both its Community Paralegal training programme, as well as through support to ratification and reporting training for civil society.

The objective of training civil society is to empower non-government state actors to be empowered and to claim their rights.

Successfully engaging with civil society organisations and actors has led to increased demand for assistance at the policy level in response to civil society campaigns and concerns.

This demand is reflected back to RRRT with increased requests for technical assistance from policy makers.
