84 Extraordinary Outreach Session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child

The Pacific Community’s Human Rights and Social Development Division hosted a side event during the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the experiences and lessons learnt from the historic 84th Extraordinary Outreach Session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC84) held in Samoa. The outcomes  from CRC84 demonstrated the potential value of regional sessions as a complementary modality to Geneva. In this panel discussion, the Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights, the children of CRC84, the host government of Samoa, committee members and development partners explored these outcomes and what the treaty body system can learn from this experience.
